International Law and Human Rights
The topic focuses on analyzing the effect that the factual sides of international legal treaties have in real-life contexts. Looking at international issues through the international policies that apply, and vice versa may help to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the current systems in place. Following that, the ways in order to improve the policies through a bottom-up approach can be identified.
Hanna Nyssen
My name is Hanna and I am a 2nd year Global Law student at Tilburg University and I just finished my Engage.EU semester at the University of Mannheim in the Area of International Humanitarian Law.
If I’m not studying or reading, I enjoy doing sports, hiking and socialising, as well as building a professional network.
Within the Nomosphone podcast, I am part of the focus group on International Law and global issues, discussing International Humanitarian Law and other areas of International Law through events.
These themes represent my passion for international law to the highest extent, as one is able to highlight the difference between law between countries on paper and how this plays out within a realistic scope.
Smaranda Birca
My name is Smaranda and I am a 2nd year Global Law student at Tilburg University and a Psychology graduate from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, doing yoga, attending professional and recreational events, as well as, building my social network.
I am part of the international law group within the Nomosphone team which is going to discuss and tackle global events from both the past and present.
I am glad to be part of this group because I believe that international law is crucial in providing an international and complete overview of the strengths and weaknesses of the judicial system from the perspectives of different countries.
Sanem Ceren Özyer
My name is Sanem and I graduated a from the Global Law program last year. Currently, I am pursuing my Master’s again at Tilburg University in the field of Law and Technology.
In my free time, I prefer to spend time with friends and go to ballet or dance sessions. I try to be active as much as possible. Also of course, reading books comes with the fact of being a law student!
